Leaving Seattle in a Hurry

I left Seattle on April 1, a couple weeks after finding out my father-in-law has an aggressive and terminal form of brain cancer called glioblastoma multiforme, grade IV. We were already in the process of packing up our things and heading out on the PCT but weren’t supposed to leave until April 19. That has all changed.

After a solid two weeks spent in the Las Vegas area getting Tim’s parent’s moved here from Ohio, it appears the PCT plan will go forward as planned (!). Tim’s mom, Jan, will drive us to the trailhead on Saturday, and the three of us will begin the trail by taking northward steps together. I can’t think of a better way to start the journey. I’m also excited to see how these two special people, Tim’s mom and dad-Jan and Rick to me-will play a bigger part of our PCT than previously imagined. I look forward to seeing them and hanging out with them periodically along the trail.

  1. Hi Angel,
So happy to hear you and Tim are making this happen! Tim’s parents sound amazing, moving forward despite the unfortunate situtuation they face. Thank you for the updated post, I hope you both realize that there’s about a gazzlion people here in the Puget Sound area that are going to be following your amazing adventure, so post often and please, please include some videos.

    PS: wear your sunscreen!

  2. Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Happy trails to you, keep smilin’ until then.
Who cares about the clouds when you’re together?
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather.
Happy trails to you, ’till we meet again.

    Some trails are happy ones,
    Others are blue.
It’s the way you run the trail that counts,
Here’s a happy one for you.

Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Happy trails to you, keep smilin’ until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we’re together?
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather.
Happy trails to you, ’till we meet again.

  3. Sending you and Tim so much love from Seattle for the adventure ahead. We will keep you both and Tim’s whole family in our hearts as you make this epic journey. Looking forward to any and all updates that we might get along the way. Thank you for taking us with you……
